WELCA Women’s Ministry Minutes

October 5, 2026

Opening Prayer was said.

Phyllis read the devotion.

Ann read the minutes from Sally Forsberg. Jean Bedwell motioned to accept the minutes as amended and Wendy Poffenberger seconded.

Wendy read the treasurers’ report noting that $100 was given in last month’s offering and 17 cents was the interest for the month with a balance of $2727.46 in the treasury.

Old business:

  • School Kits: It was decided to meet on November 29th between services to undo all the wrappings on the school supplies. We will inform all services that help will be needed to get it done during that time. Pam volunteered to try to get a Thrivent grant to purchase the supplies that we still need and any extra would be used to help with the Eau Gallie project.
  • October fest is October 17 from 11-2. Volunteers are needed. The sign-up sheet is in the narthex. Sign up for only what you think you can do.
  • Council survey and Listening Sessions: four sessions were held and women were asked to fill out and return surveys. The biggest need so far is to have intergenerational activities. The Women’s Ministry has asked that “the hub” be used to put our minutes for all women to see.
  • WELCA Space Coast Fall Gathering information is in the Advocate. It is Nov. 13-15.
  • Cindy Flachmeier funeral will not have a reception for the women’s group to handle.

New Business:

  • Susan Wenninger Funeral is Nov. 7 at 1 pm. There will be a light luncheon. Set up will
  • be at 12:30. Help will be needed.
  • November is Election Month for Women’s Ministry. We are short of a secretary and anyone interested in doing this job or any of the others should let Ann Peterson know before the November 9 meeting.
  • Christmas Party Luncheon: This will be December 7 at 12:15 at Tuscany Grill. Ann will call to make reservations for the back room and to get a menu. This is open to all omen of Advent. RSVP forms will be out in November with a due date of November 29. Those invited at no charge will be Trish VanReenen, Cathy Guilford, Pastor Alisha and Pastor and LaTynia Taylor. Phyllis has asked for door prizes to be donated, wrapped and brought to the luncheon by the Women’s Ministry group.

The next Meeting will be November 9 at 10 am. This is one week later that normal as the officers will be out of town on the 2nd . Bible study will be at 11 am.

The closing prayer was read.
