2 Minute Read
This week's food pantry served 70 families representing 217 individuals. We distributed 112 bags of food and welcomed 2 new families. We were blessed by the helping hands of 16 volunteers.
This week our hearts are with neighbors across Brevard whose homes, cars, and livelihoods were swamped by record-breaking rain and flooding, and especially with families grieving loved ones lost in the storm. For many households already stretched thin, recovery will take a long time, and we pray they feel God's promise to be present in the waters.
"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you." — Isaiah 43:2
Paul wrote to a church in mourning so that they would "not grieve as others do who have no hope," and he ended with a simple charge: encourage one another. That's our calling now, through a phone call to a neighbor, the sharing of groceries, and a prayer for those who are still cleaning up. Encouragement came to us this week too. Skipper's Snack Shack, a Melbourne pet food pantry, is now supporting our pet ministry with dog and cat food, and Trader Joe's Neighborhood Shares Program blessed us with donations. To our volunteers, mission partners, and supporters: you are the encouragement Paul spoke of, and we thank God for you.
"Therefore, encourage one another with these words." — 1 Thessalonians 4:18
